Rookie Rankings

  1. Trent Richardson, RB – I think he’s probably better than Mark Ingram coming out, but he’ll still have to prove his a top NFL RB where ever he lands.  Richardson has the intangibles but he’s not the fastest nor shiftiest guy in the world.  He knows how to find the hole and he’s powerful though and those are two great attributes to have in the NFL
  2. Andrew Luck, QB – You’ll here a lot about why Andrew Luck might not be the best QB in the world, don’t listen to it.  The book on him is that he’s the most polished QB to come out in some time and that is VERY true.  His success will all be about how he handles the hype.   We’ll see how mentally strong he is very soon.
  3. Lamar Miller, RB – He’s #3 due to pure potential.  I love the way he runs, he has a great NFL size/speed combination, now all he needs is the right team.  He wasn’t uber-productive in college but that’s hardly a reason to sleep on him.
  4. Chris Polk, RB – He didn’t thrill me during Senior Bowl week so we’ll have to keep an eye on him.  That said he was productive at Washington and has the intangibles to succeed, although he’s not the fastest guy in the world.
  5. Robert Griffin III, QB – RB3 has a lot of hype right now and rightfully so with the Heisman win and incredible season statistically.  The concern here isn’t accuracy or arm, it’s more the ability to read defenses.  If he can show that at all during the pre-season, he could be a find.  He’s also not a huge guy, so injury is a concern.
  6. Justin Blackmon, WR – Consensus top WR in this class but not a Larry Fitzgerald or Calvin Johnson.  He will be productive for someone, but he will need a good QB.  Keep an eye on where he goes.
  7. Alshon Jeffrey, WR – I love his size/hands and productivity in the SEC.  That said he has some maturity concerns that could hold him back.  I think he’ll be productive early in his career, especially in the red zone.
  8. David Wilson, RB – A RB from Virginia Tech, what else do you need to know?  Seriously, I think he’s a good back, not a great one, but if he gets in the right situation, it may well lead to stardom.
  9. Michael Floyd, WR – He has a lot going for him but has had off the field concerns. To me, that makes him a value.  Especially if he finds himself being chosen at the end of the first round and going to a good offense.
  10. Ryan Tannehill, QB/WR - Tannehill is an athlete, having played WR for 2 years and QB for 2 years.  I think he’s better suited as an NFL QB but if that doesn’t work out he could be a decent WR too.  We’ll have to see how it plays out.
